MEET OBINNA UKWANI: The New Chief Digital Officer of Bank of Kigali, Rwanda.

Obinna Ukwuani has been appointed as the Chief Digital Officer by the Bank of Kigali, Rwanda.

Ukwuani, a former Paystack executive, will lead the Bank’s Digital Factory Division for product innovation and development in Digital Banking. He resumed the position since June.

Obinna is a pan-African social entrepreneur who is committed to creating value and building human capacity.

He is the Founder & CEO of Makers Academy Africa; which encompasses NESA by Makers, a software development training school and studio in Lagos State, Nigeria, and Makers Robotics Academy Rwanda, a comprehensive engineering bootcamp designed to thrust young boys and girls in the world of technology development for problem solving first in partnership with Bank of Kigali.

Obinna is also the Founder & CEO of Brük Oil Mills, a palm oil processing company in Nigeria where he oversees factory development and leads plantation development efforts.

In 2015, though born and raised in the United States, Obinna moved to Nigeria to pursue entrepreneurial and social impact ambitions. He holds a degree in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Obinna also founded the Exposure Robotics Academy (XRA), a critically successfully capacity building program targeted at West Africa Secondary School students. XRA ran between 2012 and 2014, educated over 100 boys and girls, received significant funding from companies like Shell Oil and Interswitch, and is the subject of the global award-winning documentary film “Naija Beta”.

He has spoken at Google HG, worked at Google HQ, pursued STEM degrees at Universities such as Bryn Mawr and Drexel with honors, and launched their own Entrepreneurial ventures.
